Window film is a thin, multi-layered polyester material that is treated with reflective or tinted coatings. It offers a range of benefits, including reducing heat and glare from the sun, increasing privacy, and providing protection against harmful UV rays. Window film is an effective and stylish solution for enhancing comfort and efficiency in homes.
The best window film for your home depends on your specific needs and priorities. There are several types of window films available, each designed to provide different benefits:
All of our window films also filter out up to 99% of harmful UV rays. This helps to protect furniture, flooring, and artwork from fading due to UV exposure.
We’re happy to provide professional advice and recommend the most suitable option based on your specific requirements. Feel free to get in touch for a consultation.
First, we thoroughly clean the window surfaces to remove any dust, dirt, or debris, ensuring optimal adhesion. The film is carefully applied using industry-standard tools and techniques to achieve a smooth finish. The entire process typically takes less than a couple of hours, though larger jobs may require additional time.
Unfortunately, we do not install window film purchased elsewhere. To ensure the highest quality results, we only work with professional-grade films that we have sourced ourselves. This allows us to guarantee the durability, performance, and finish of our installations.
While you can definitely attempt to tint your own windows, it’s often more challenging than it looks! Achieving a smooth finish requires precision, experience, and the right techniques. A professional installer has the skills and practice to ensure a better result, avoiding costly mistakes that can be difficult to fix.
Additionally, by the time you’ve purchased all the necessary tools - such as cleaning solutions, cutting equipment, application tools, etc - the cost can add up. Hiring a professional not only saves you time and effort but also ensures a high-quality, long-lasting finish.
The effect of window film on the brightness of your room depends on the type and shade of film you choose. Some of our darkest films will reduce the amount of natural light entering a room particularly on cloudy days. However, none of our films will drastically darken your space, as they are designed to allow in natural light while still providing benefits such as heat reduction, glare control, and UV protection.
• Light or Neutral Tinted Films – These films don't significantly reduce natural light. They are ideal if you want to maintain a bright interior while improving comfort.
• Reflective Films – These provide brilliant levels of privacy but can slightly dim the room, mainly in lower light conditions.
• Frosted or Decorative Films – These are designed to diffuse light rather than block it, maintaining brightness while enhancing privacy.
To keep your window film in the best condition, follow these simple cleaning guidelines:
Regular maintenance with these gentle cleaning methods will keep your window film looking great and performing effectively for many years. If you have any concerns or questions about caring for your film, feel free to reach out!
Mirrored window films provide privacy by reflecting light, therefore their effectiveness depends on lighting conditions. During the day, when it’s brighter outside than inside, the reflective surface prevents people from seeing in while allowing you to still see out. This makes them a very popular choice.
However, at night, when interior lights are on and it’s darker outside, the effect is reversed and people will be able to see inside. We still recommend using blinds or curtains at night as normal, to ensure complete privacy when interior lights are on.
The only films which can provide 24/7 privacy are our frosted or decorative films. If you’re unsure which option is best for your home, we’d be happy to recommend the right film to meet your privacy needs!
To ensure a smooth and efficient installation, please make sure we have clear access to your windows. This includes moving any furniture away from the windows and clearing all window sills. We also ask that you remove any curtains or blinds before our arrival. However, if you require assistance with this, please let us know in advance or on the day, and we will be happy to help.
After your window film has been installed, you may notice small water bubbles under the surface. It will also have a slight hazy/wet look. Don’t worry - this is completely normal.
When we apply the film, we remove around 90% of the moisture, but a small amount remains trapped between the film and the glass. As the film cures, this moisture will slowly evaporate through the film's semipermeable surface. The curing process typically takes up to 4 weeks, although this can vary depending on the weather - it’s often quicker in warm temperatures and much slower during winter months.
During this time, the bubbles should disappear as the film fully bonds to the glass. Once cured, there might still be a the odd tiny bubble left (usually just 1-2 millimetres in size), but these are only visible when viewed up close and don’t affect the performance of the film.
However, if you notice any larger bubbles or cloudy patches that don’t clear, or anything that doesn’t look right, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re happy to come out to take a look, and if needed, we’ll remove and reapply the film at no extra cost.
Before applying your window film, we take great care to thoroughly clean your windows using a specialised cleaning solution and a variety of tools and techniques to remove all dust, dirt, and debris. However, since we’re working in your home - not in a sterile, dust-free environment like a car tinting garage - it’s unfortunately impossible to ensure no particles of dust get under the film. Despite our best efforts, there is always a chance that a few specks of dust or dirt may settle under the film as we are installing it. Even though the surface is sparkling clean, we are working in a non-sterile environment with air movement, so in between cleaning the surface and pressing the tint onto the window, a little dust landing is inevitable. In fact, it is impossible to avoid it entirely.
We do everything we can to ensure a flawless finish, and in most cases, any specs that remain are so small they’re only visible when inspecting the glass very closely. These tiny particles are considered within the normal tolerance for residential film installations. That said, any larger dust or dirt spots that are clearly visible without the need for close inspection falls outside our quality standards. So, if you notice a more visible area of contamination that you’re not happy with, please don’t hesitate to get in touch - we’ll be more than happy to return and reapply the film where necessary.
A small gap of approximately 2mm between the window film and the frame is a standard practice in professional film installations. This intentional gap allows the film to expand and contract with temperature changes, preventing issues such as bubbling, peeling, or lifting at the edges over time. Additionally, it enables the removal of the installation solution beneath the film, as the water needs a small escape route to ensure a smooth application.
The window films we use are engineered for durability and longevity. Constructed from high quality materials, they are designed to resist fading, peeling and bubbling. With proper care the films can last up to 10 years, making them a reliable investment.
